Like a home to vegan activism - Edit
I am really happy that there is a place that I can both eat delicious vegan food and talk human and non-human rights. Among the foods, Soğan Dolması is my favorite. They organize political events too, you can listen to the speechs of activists and discuss Turkey's and world's political situation. There are also events like vegan cuisines of different cultures, I look forward to joining one of them!

Like visiting your friends at home - Edit
This is a fully vegan café combined with a political bookstore, and it's important to know that going in. You will find a strong focus on political theory, history, LGBTQ topics, and social movements. It's refreshing to experience a place that is transparent, principled, and community-oriented.
Read moreI've eaten here many times, mostly breakfast, but also dinner. The vegan döner is satisfying, the breakfasts are comforting and filling, and on colder days their salep is perfect. I've also attended a vegan Christmas dinner with a three-course menu which was thoughtfully prepared and felt genuinely festive without being commercial.
The atmosphere is calm, political, and welcoming. You can sit with a book, talk, or just exist quietly. A very special touch is their care for stray cats. They feed them and allow them to roam the space, so you'll often find cats sleeping on the chairs or passing by your table.
This is not a trendy vegan café, and it's not trying to be one. It's a place rooted in values, solidarity, and everyday care. If you like vegan food, political spaces, and community-driven places, Ayrışım is absolutely worth visiting.

Beautiful place, good food - Edit
Unfortunately I went too early and there wasn't any Donner option yet, so I had a breakfast sandwich. It was good. For me the highlight is the place which also offers t shirts, pins and books. I also tried a vegetable Quiche for dessert which was delicious. The service was great even though the lady did not speak any English.

Lovely café with cheap food - Edit
Very nice place with a amazing atmosphere and nice staff. Their English is not the best, but they are nice and are good at communicating if you don't speak Turkish. The cafe cat is nice, but be careful to only pet her, when she allows you to do so.

Beautiful place, and beautiful cats - Edit
Are these the first pictures of these cats on HappyCow? They were stunning breakfast companions. The literature selection was top notch and it was good to support a local vegan activist.

Must-visit cafe in Istanbul for vegans - Edit
Located on a quiet street in Kadıköy, this cafe has a lovely backyard where Istanbul’s street cats freely come and go. The staff were very kind and welcoming. I tried the veggie quiche and beans with cream and mushroom, and both were absolutely delicious. The bill was surprisingly low compared to other cafés in Istanbul, I’m still wondering if they forgot something! Also free stray cat hugs included!

Great vibes and food! - Edit
Tasty home-style food is served here. I enjoyed each of the 4 dishes we ordered which were all flavored nicely (Swedish meatballs, moussaka, creamy mushroom bean dish, and quiche). The breakfast looks really good and the prices are the most affordable we found in Istanbul too. It feels more like a community space and the people working there were very welcoming. We enjoyed a long chat with them 😊 There are a few resident cats to hang out with too.

A great vegan place and community - Edit
I’ve been there for breakfast and it was very good. Also it was very nice to chat with people who are actively fighting for animal rights in Turkey. It’s a very welcoming place and I’ll definetly go there again.

Dessert incroyable! - Edit

A welcoming vegan space with heart and purpose! - Edit
Ayrışım Bookstore Café stands out not only for its strong stance on justice for all beings, but also for its delicious and affordable menu. The breakfast here is hands down one of the best vegan breakfasts you can find in Istanbul right now — generous portions, thoughtful ingredients, and unbeatable prices.
Read moreIn a time when vegan options are becoming scarce or overpriced, Ayrışım offers a satisfying four-dish meal at a very reasonable cost.
The bookstore section is beautifully curated, and what truly sets it apart is a dedicated section on animal liberation — a topic often overlooked by other bookstores.
Oh, and don’t leave without checking out the bright red toilet — quirky, cheerful, and totally in line with the café’s bold spirit!
