Great beer, and really good vegan options.

Perfect spot to grab dinner before a show at History. Get there before 6PM to take advantage of the happy hour menu. There are only a few vegan options, but everything I tried was delicious, and the service was friendly. I’d be happy to come back.

Nice but pricey

I decided to try out Avling for brunch as I knew that they had a few vegan food options. I asked my server about the portobello mushroom burger being cooked on separate grill which they didn’t ( disappointing) but he recommended the Vegan Farmer’s breakfast plate. The tofu scramble, roasted potato cubes, wilted spinach with toast was tasty but at $21 I did think that it was slightly overpriced for what one gets especially as no meat or dairy which I could see be more expensive. I would have liked more wilted spinach and perhaps grilled mushrooms to fill
up the plate. I had to ask for olive oil on the side as toast was plain.
The drip coffee was delicious, but $4.50 for one mug ( asked for oat milk) and no refills again expensive.
The server asked if my friend and I wanted desserts and I thought why not go the full mile! There was mango or chocolate coconut gelato and server recommended the latter. Waited a while for it ( about 10 minutes) and I was going to cancel when the server showed up with mango gelato. I asked if that was the chocolate coconut one as wanted what he had recommended. He apologized and offered that one on the house ( which by the way was pale and tasted more like melon!😳) The chocolate coconut gelato was good but $4.50 for one scoop I thought was expensive.
I would not return for brunch but would try the dinner menu where bean burger sliders are offered at happy hour if they could cook on a vegetable grill. I called after the fact to ask and hostess said perhaps could ask to do that if not busy.
Not the worst place I have been to but certainly not a top place would be wishing to try again at $40 with tip.

Pros: several vegan food options offered , friendly service, lovely open, chilled vibe

Cons: no separate grill, small portions for price, needs more vegan food options

Delicious vegan options

Here’s a list of my current favs (menu changes with the seasons)
Brunch:
Farmers Breakfast
Millennial Toast (uses edamame guac)
Shakshuka

All made with a tofu scramble

Dinner:
Caesar salad (I recommend adding the black bean and quinoa fritters)
Pumpkin Ravioli (have to ask to be made vegan)
Marg pizza (they have vegan cheese, just ask them to substitute)
Brusseloccoli

Pros: Delicious food, Excellent beer
