Amazing experience, could not recommend it more - Edit
An adorable exterior and interior. I wanted to try traditional Lithuanian food in Kaunas and this place did not disappoint. There were a variety of options, I ended up trying the zemaiciu blynai which (as I’ve been informed) is traditionally made with meat but they had masterfully done with mushrooms. My (non vegan & Lithuanian) girlfriend had bulvinai blynai with berries - she says it tastes very similar to the traditionally made dish and was very impressed. If you’re visiting kaunas and looking for vegan food, make sure you give this place a go because it is deliciousssss!

Excellent - Edit
I'm pleased I found this open on a Sunday. I picked the fried eggplants which came with a side tomato sauce. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish which was a good size. I wouldn't hesitate going back if I stayed in Kaunas longer

Very cosy atmosphere and wonderful food. Has a variety of soups, warm dishes and desserts (not on the menu but in a fridge by the till). We tried nearly half the menu and everything was delicious

Veganised local cuisine always great to see - Edit
I’m a keen fan of when places don’t go for the same old kinds of menus and dishes and serve properly veganised traditional dishes instead. Thankfully this place does that in a great place that feels super homely and is staffed by incredibly nice people. A Kaunas must.

A Real Gem - Edit
Thank you, Tori, for taking me to this gem of a restaurant. Located inside part of an old-fashioned pharmacy (still operating as I write this review) is a fabulous Lithuanian vegan restaurant. You can not go wrong here, as all of the dishes are made with so much love. From the dumplings filled with mushrooms, the flakey and extraordinary savory pastries to the traditional pink soup, you will enjoy every bite of food here. Fortunately, the man who has owned the pharmacy since the 1970s (and will be retiring at the end of 2024) gave us a private tour of the back offices and inner workings of the pharmacy. He really is passionate about health, and has a framed poster in the back with the famous Hippocrates quote: "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food” I'm so glad he chose a vegan restaurant to share his space that reflects this quote and his beliefs.

A unique spot! - Edit
As others have said, the menu isn’t thoroughly translated - but no worries as it’s vegan so you can just pick one and know you’ll get a decent meal! Quirky place attached to a pharmacy with an unusual bathroom…
Read moreAs for food, we had soup (vegetable broth and spicy bean), and then wheat cutlet for me and zemaicu (not sure on spelling!) for partner. Matcha tea was nice too. We also bought some pastries to take away with us for dinner on the train! There was a good range of sweet and savoury - plum, spinach, tofu cheese, mushrooms, cabbage, apple.
Would love to have been in Kaunas longer to revisit.

Simple food, friendly location - Edit
We had some really good food, the kind I would cook at home, and fresh pressed juices. Sadly, we were only in Kaunas for one day or I would have liked to try more of their menu.

Uninspired - Edit
I was happy to see a vegan choice in this city but was disappointed by the standard and uninspired fare. The best part of my meal was the borscht soup to start. The greasy tasteless spinach and tofus cheese crepe followed by a date-based pastry topped with a ball of pear. The printed menu had one page of English and the remains dozen pages had more menu items but I could not determine what they were.

Delicious local vegan cuisine - Edit
We’ve had beetroot cutlets and spinach crêpes as well as several puff pastries (both sweet and savory) and a piece of cake. Main dishes were simple yet very tasty which is quite typical of Eastern European food. Speaking of baked goods, it was heavenly delicious. Definitely worth trying

Love love love - Edit
We really loved all of their vegan takes on traditional Lithuanian food. It was great to find a healthy and cruelty free alternative to all of the traditional dishes that we'd see at other restaurants but which we couldn't eat. We sat outside in the late summer evening and enjoyed a selection of soups, pancakes and dumplings. We're just sad that we didn't have any space for the delicious looking cakes! We will definitely be back the next time we're in Kaunas!

Avoid, avoid, avoid!
Read moreWe felt very unwelcome from the moment we opened our mouths and English came out. The lady seemed very annoyed about it. The food was a huge disappointment. We were so much looking forward to vegan Slavic food, but holy, was that bad. The cold beetroot soup was watery and flavourless, the mushroom cutlets didn't taste like mushrooms and had a minimal amount of sauce and potato pancakes with mushroom sauce were raw inside and the sauce had three pieces of mushroom in it. Of course, the dishes didn't arrive at the same time to the same table. Neither of us finished our food and only after ordering and paying, shocked by the amazing reviews of this place, did we uncover the 2-star reviews (the lowest that Happycow allows a vegan restaurant to have), which said that the food might not be vegan at all, so we dreaded every bite.
Do yourselves a favour and go elsewhere.
Pros: Location
Cons: Unfriendly staff, Bad food, Offence to Slavic cuisine

Why in the world would you be looking for Slavic food in a cafe with traditional Lithuanian cuisine?.. Lithuanians are Balts, not Slavs...
