Love this Seattle gem - Edit
I’ve been going here consistently for years and it’s always soooo good!
Read moreTheir fried rice is ultra flavorful yet fresh with all the veggies.
My favorite thing from there is the Tom ka, but I also love the pumpkin curry.
It’s such a flavorful and healthy spot! That being said, they have these vegan cream cheese sticks that are super delicious too
Pros: Very delicious and flavorful , Healthy and packed with fresh veggies

Hit or miss - Edit
This place has inconsistent quality depending on what items you get but overall is a pretty good Thai place. I've been coming here for 6 years now and have never left unhappy. I love their curries most of all, the green one is my favorite. They also have a pretty good Pad Thai. #Veganuary

Through the years at Araya Thai - Edit
We've been patrons of Araya since we first tried her food at Seattle Veg Fest nearly 30 years ago, when she still ran the place herself and had her dog Zombie there, reciting the story of how it was her love for her dog that made her vegan. She would demonstrate Zombie's singing abilities for the customers, her dog would chime in. So trust me when I tell you I am a loyal patron for life. While the food is always fine, it's not great unless you finesse the menu perfectly to your taste. I recommend the pad see ew, the prik kring and the som tum,
Read moreand order it spicy (they really make it mild for Seattlites, even at a 4) . I can't recommend the curries these days. No matter what vegetables the menu cites, they're overloaded with inch thick slices of undercooked zucchini and dare I say, missing the love. The staff is efficient but it feels like they're tired of the game. I like the convenience of meeting up with friends on the North end for dinner, the ambiance of the space and the all vegan aspect. The food can be disappointing if you don't nail the menu navigation. I feel guilty dragging my non vegan friends along. I love Araya's for life, I took the vegan cooking classes she offered there in the mid 90s, she taught me everything I needed to become an at home master. I wish them all the best and have a ton of gratitude for what they provide to the city of Seattle. I will be back, but I won't be torturing my omni friends again anytime soon.
Pros: All vegan, Great ambiance , Generous portions
Cons: Too much subbing out the listed veg, The curries aren't that exciting

Stellar Thai in Seattle - Edit
Recently had a chance to enjoy Araya's Place while in Seattle and it was some of the best Thai food I've had in a while.
Read moreWhereas "Kati's Vegan Thai" felt more of a modern, fusion take on Thai, Araya brings it back closer to home and helps answer people's curiosity of "how can you make Thai food vegan?"
Turns out it's very easy!
My friends and I had a blast trying out many of their dishes from their Fresh Spring Rolls, Pad Thai, Lemongrass Stir-Fry, and two different Curries (one pumpkin based and one with avocado). Everything we tried was rich in flavor and was perfect for a family style meal. Dishes came out quickly so we were never hungry for long.
The portion sizes here are quite generous! In a quickly inflated economy, I appreciate restaurants that feel like you're really getting your hard earned moneys worth on delicious food.
Only thing I wish they'd do is include rice with their curries instead of having it be a separate side order, but it's not a huge deal. Would absolutely come back to Araya again in the future.
Pros: Lots of seating, Great quality

A great vegan find - Edit
It was wonderful going to a completely vegan Thai restaurant and not having to ask about the use of fish sauce or animal broths. We started with the fresh rolls which had tofu, shredded vegetables and cilantro with a soy peanut dipping sauce. The Tom Yum soup was a bit spicy and very good. The pad Thai was very enjoyable.

Delicious Lunch Special - Edit
I loved all 6 items that came with my lunch special. It sounds like the featured curry or stir fry changes regularly. I left full, satisfied and with another meal in leftover containers. Service was quick and friendly.

The menu was extensive and the staff gave us ample time to choose our appetizers. We all chose different dishes and shared the ample dish that each of us ordered. Every dish was so delicious. We were not hurried through our meal. The entire party left feeling happy and satisfied with both the food and friendly staff. This is our new favorite place. Thank you, Araya's place for making our evening so special.

They changed - Edit
I am disappointed that the taste of the food has changed so much. Too much sugar in the pad sew ieh and plant based meat with peanut sauce. The Thai style rice soup was so bland without any flavor at all. We asked for medium spicy and the food had no spicyness. It feels like there is a different chef cooking. Also the service is not very friendly.

Delicious - Edit
Always had good experiences at Araya’s in both Seattle and Bellevue. Very delicious and friendly. We love the crunchy tofu cream cheese rolls with baby corn and pineapple. Seattle generally speaking doesn’t have as many vegan restaurants as one would expect but we’re so happy it has Araya’s. Consistently delicious.

Huge portions of yummy food - Edit
Everything we've had here has been delicious! Curries, noodles dishes, etc. The portions are so big we always have multiple meals. We've only done takeout, so I don't know what the dine-in experience is like.

We like it spicy - Edit
#40 Pad Thai and #15 Tom Kah soup were delicious! My only wish, is that the lemon grass wasn’t sliced so small and was easier to remove from the soup. Large chunks of ginger, were easy to spot.
Read moreWe ordered at level 4 spice, but found it a tad too spicy for the soup and fine for the Pad Thai.
I didn’t take any pictures.
We picked up to go and I sat inside to wait. The interior was cozy and busy for a Wednesday night.

Best Thai food ever & large portions! - Edit
Araya's consistently has the best Thai food, it's much better than anywhere else I've ever tried. Everything tastes so flavorful and perfected! I've been eating here consistently for almost 10 years and I'm sad to go back to the San Francisco Bay because no Thai food comes close out there. I got delivery from this location and it's just as good as dining in. My favorite dish is the Araya's Portobello with some rice, fried spring rolls, and the tofu satay with peanut sauce. The portions are really big too, even when I'm very hungry I always end up having a lot of leftovers.

Amazing menu, tasty food, friendly service - Edit
We arrived about 20 mins before closing as we’d just got to town and Araya’s was right by our accommodation. They could only serve us takeout at that time but were so friendly and patient and we didn’t feel rushed to choose our order. The lady even threw in a couple of extra cold drinks which was appreciated.
Read moreWe got a bunch of appetizers- satay tofu was my favourite, the fresh rolls were also delicious, and the pot stickers - and for my main I got pineapple fried rice which was so good. Others had spicy noodles, pad Thai and Tom yum soup which seemed to hit the spot too.
I’m not usually a big fan of tofu but whatever they do to it here, it was so tasty. Great texture with the right amount of bite to it, and holds flavour really well. Still dreaming about that satay tofu!
The menu is really extensive and it was great to know everything was totally vegan, as it meant we could freely consider things like Pad Thai and soups which usually have eggs or fish sauce in them.
The portions were generous so we had some leftovers for the next day as a quick snack before heading out to explore the city.
I would probably eat here all the time if I lived here. Highly recommend!
Pros: Fully vegan menu, Lots of choice (soups, stir fries, noodles), Friendly, quick service (takeout)

Huge menu, great curries - Edit
I’ve been here a few times and have tried a few of their options. I wanted to try something new so I got the Massaman curry. I didn’t think I would like the banana in since I don’t even like bananas but I figured worst case I would bring it home to my partner to eat. It was actually really good! They were chunks of banana, not puréed. It reminded me of a sweet potato. Definitely recommend if you like Massaman curry. I got 5 stars but it wasn’t all that spicy.
