Come support Araya’s Place! - Edit
Araya’s Place needs more support! They’re one of the oldest and best vegan restaurants in LA, and they’re struggling to stay open. The owner is awesome! Great place to hang and bring lots of friends for food 😋

I could eat here every day - Edit
I tried a curry and a noodle dish. The number of things they have on the menu is overwhelming (in a good way). I wish i had more time in LA to come back over and over and try more things.

Best Thai Food! Must go here! - Edit
I’ve eaten here now four times in the last three weeks. The food was amazing and the service was spectacular. The potstickers, the fresh rolls, and the pad see ew were so good. I keep ordering the same thing. And the spice level tray they bring out is awesome!

Much improved - Edit
Updating my review from eight years ago because I gave this place another try and it went much better! Back then, I went twice and the food was either bland or unbelievably spicy. But maybe I just got unlucky. I've ordered takeout from Araya's a few times recently and everything was great. We've tried various noodle dishes and curries, and they were all fresh and tasty. I wouldn't go there on my birthday or anything, but it's a good option to have for takeout.
Read moreAnother edit one year later: I've had problems with incorrect spiciness levels two more times, so I stopped going here. There are more consistent places.

The food is SO good here! - Edit
Our first time visiting and won't be the last. We decided on the Fresh Rolls, Drunken Mushroom, and Kao Lard Na. I'm not a fan of spicy, but hubby asked for the sauces, of which, all were slightly spicy. All but one are made in-house, and hubby said they were all very good!
Read moreThe Fresh Rolls lived up to their name. In addition to the tamarind sauce with peanuts, a warm peanut sauce was also on the plate. OMG, the sauces were SOOO good. Paired with the rolls, this was a spectacular start!
We went for the Drunken Mushroom next. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish, although hubby thought the mushrooms were a bit waterlogged and lacked flavor. I disagreed, and the "dragon's breath" for those of you familiar with wok cooking, was very prominent in the noodles. I would definitely order this dish again.
The Kao Lard Na finished it off. We'd never seen a dish served like this before. It resembled more of a soup with rice, but the sauce was definitely thick! It was reminiscent of a gumbo sauce with the consistency of okra slime or a LOT of corn starch/arrow root. The flavor was good, but the texture might be a turn-off for some. The veggies weren't that memorable, so probably will try something different next time.
As I told the proprietors, this was our first time, but definitely not the last. They mentioned their business had dropped off since COVID and the writer's strike, as a lot of their clientele are in the entertainment industry. I'd hate for such a good vegan restaurant to go under, so go visit and you'll see it can become a regular for you, as it will for me!
Pros: GREAT food, Welcoming and friendly staff/owners
Cons: Parking lot can get full quickly

Better of the Vegan Thais - Edit
Great green curry; good service; and the Laab was okay, if not at all as promoted (‘3 types of mushrooms’ turned out to be ‘3 field mushrooms’ and fried slivers of firm tofu).

Delicious Thai food - Edit
This was definitely one of the best vegan Thai restaurants I have visited so far.
Read moreSuper friendly service, very clean and very reasonable prices.
Sadly I was too hungry to take any photos but everything we had was really good.
We took the lunch special which comes with a soup and a spring roll. The spring roll was probably one of the best spring rolls I've ever had 😋 and the soup had a lot of tofu and vegetables in it.
I took the red curry which in my opinion tasted really authentic (reminding me on the curries I had in Thailand) and my husband ordered the Bangkok Cafe which had a delicious peanut sauce.
All in all really recommendable.
Unfortunately I discovered this place on my last day otherwise I would have definitely revisited.

Consistently the best Thai food! - Edit
I've long been a fan of Araya's due to their large portions and creativity. This was my first time at this location and it was perfect. The menu is extensive, everything is fantastic with interesting flavors, and it's all vegan. What more could you want? It's always refreshing to eat at Araya's since so many Thai places taste more or less the same and have similar menu items, but here you'll always have something new to try. The tofu satay and crispy spring rolls as appetizers are a great way to start the meal. Even their delivery portion sizes are just as large.

Great!! - Edit
So excited to find this restaurant! They had a huge menu with so many options and we couldn’t believe that everything was vegan! Our server was so friendly and all the food we tried was delicious. Our only complaint was the pad Thai, ordered as a 4 out of 5 spice level, was not spicy at all. Besides that, all the food was spiced perfectly and tasted amazing.
