Very di sapointed - Edit
I was so looking forward to having lunch at AA Roots. I must have come on the wrong day. As we were driving down the coast it was almost their closing time, so I went to the website to see if I could order for pick-up. They have that as an option, but the link only puts you into a chat that is answered when they have time.
Read moreSo anyway, we get there and they are very welcoming. I say I had seen a burger on the website I wanted to try, but couldn't remember the name. (It was the Sassy Burger - Local Adzuki tempeh teriyaki on an everything bagel with pineapple and salad). I didn't see it on the menu in the restaurant. The Choices for a burger I was given were black bean burger and curry chickpea burger. I ordered the curry chickpea. It might have had 3 chickpeas in it (maybe the rest were mashed) and definitely didn't taste like curry, it barely tasted like anything other than the thick slices of pickles that soaked the bottom bun. Speaking of the bun, it was VERY soft, almost mushy. The salad was good.
To add to the issues, we took home cinnamon rolls to reheat for breakfast the next day. While it looked done, there was mushy batter in the middle, definitely not frosting. I can't tell you how disappointed I was.

Pros: Salad, It's vegan, Served us even at closing time
Cons: Choice on the website wasn't available in store, Curry burger was bland and I couldn't detect curry, Cinnamon roll had uncooked dough in the middle.

Delicious, healthy and local - Edit
The cafe was very busy when we went. Had a great lunch after a hike. Clean, delicious and healthy. Except for the cookie which was out of this world but clearly not on the health menu!

Great food, great vibe. Not too expensive. I got a giant cookie, OJ, and the breakfast burrito. My boyfriend got the naked burrito bowl and they were both delicious. High quality ingredients and tasted great!

Lilikoi Smoothie - Edit
The food here is excellent. I loved the lilikoi smoothie (it was a special so not sure if they’ll always have it) and the desserts from Cakes by Kamala. The pumpkin spice muffin / cupcake was omg so so good. Friendly staff and such a great vibe.

Nice vegan cafe, beautifully presented dishes - Edit
This is a nice, casual cafe with outdoor seating. I had tried this place via their food truck before the Lahaina fire and really enjoyed it so I made a point to try them again, this time in their cafe. I got the vegan Caesar salad and it was delicious. Can’t wait to come back to try more things.

Perfetto! - Edit
We had lunch here twice in three days only because the third day was Wednesday and they are closed. The food is great, I haven't eaten such a good Caesar salad in years!

My favorite place. The food here is made with love. I am always grateful to have such a nourishing place to eat while on the island. I stop here almost every day when visiting Maui. I recommend the soba bowl as well as açaí bowl. ❤️

Heavenly - Edit
We ate here when we were in Maui 4 years ago. My husband is not vegan and going back to this restaurant this year 2024 was his idea. I have been a vegan 32 years. I recommend ordering the daily specials. I had the tomato soup and also avocado toast with chimichurri. My husband had a salad. We also bought a blueberry muffin. The server was very helpful in guiding our choices. He was happy and friendly. The service was quick. The food was DELICIOUS and FRESH. They have toys available to keep the little ones occupied.

WOW WOW WOW - Edit
I have been wanting to eat here for years and I'm so upset with myself that it took me this long to try it! This place is seriously amazing and one of the best restaurants I've ever been to. The staff is incredibly nice...I've never had customer service so notable. The owner of the store was showing food to us coming from the kitchen proudly showing off her daughter's (the chef) hard work and skills. It may not be the fastest service ever, but all the food is so beautiful and you can tell they put their heart into it. Food was absolutely delectable and I can't wait to try more! Make sure you check their Instagram for the Daily Specials, Friday Dinner Menu, and Sunday Brunch Menu. I went twice in one day because I was so blown away. The only thing that caught me off guard was how expensive the cookie dough is ($20 for a tub), but it's pretty good stuff so it's a splurge item. By the way, the cookie dough can be baked or eaten raw😉

Update: went back and was equally impressed. Soba bowl and breakfast burritos are delicious. Also don’t miss the s’mores cookie- life changing!! Owner is lovely and thrilled to meet other vegans. Also her son, a staunch vegan, gives surf lessons if you want to support. Lahainasurfadventures.com. Wish we had known before we went to a different place.

Still Dreaming of A’A Roots - Edit
We ate here 2 or 3 times while in Maui. It was so great that if it was in my hometown I’d eat here multiple days a week. We tried to go again on our last day. They were closed for Father’s Day, which we totally respected, but I’m still dreaming of my next meal there.
