Truly Exceptional Vegan Culinary Experience in Porto - Edit
This was, without question, one of the most memorable meals of our trip to Portugal. The fully plant-based Portuguese tasting menu was a masterclass in culinary creativity—each dish thoughtfully crafted with passion, authenticity, and an incredible attention to detail.
Read moreFrom the welcome sip of Ferreira port (one of Portugal’s few Portuguese-owned port houses) to the final bite of their award-winning nata, the entire experience was unforgettable. The four starters—vegan codfish cake, fish açorda, Algarve-style carrots, and mushrooms in coriander and lemon—were beautifully balanced and full of flavor. Fresh bread accompanied these vibrant small plates perfectly.
The main dishes truly impressed: a comforting, balanced seafood rice and a rich, plant-based take on the iconic Francesinha that was nothing short of perfection. For dessert, the layered biscuit cake had lovely hints of coffee, and the airy, whipped “Heavenly Cream” was exactly that—divine. We were also lucky enough to try their vegan nata, and it absolutely lived up to the praise: silky, smooth, and utterly delicious.
Beyond the food, the service was warm and genuinely enthusiastic. The staff took time to explain each dish and share their deep love for Portuguese cuisine, which made the experience feel even more personal and special.
Every course reflected not just technical skill, but deep care and love for both the craft and the culture. I only wish I lived in Porto so I could return again and again. A must-visit for anyone who values food made with heart.
Pros: Authentic Portuguese flavours, Beautifully crafted dishes made with passion, Warm, knowledgeable staff

Vegan in Porto - Edit
Arriving in Porto on a public holiday (São João), some vegan restaurants weren't open. The walk to A Padoca was so worth it. Great service, a super vegan menu, great atmosphere, option to sit out, or in. After 14 days on the Caminho Santiago from Lisboa, this was definitely a great start to my break in Porto.

Portuguese Tasting Menu - Edit
We came on Saturday night to try the tasting menu of traditional Portuguese food. From start to finish each dish was outstanding. We were guided through each dish and given an explanation of where it comes from and how they veganised it. The food and wine was delicious and the staff were all so friendly and helpful. We also took some pastries with us for breakfast the next day, and they were lovey. This place is not to be missed!

Incredible. Vegan variations of Portuguese foods. - Edit
What an incredible meal! The chef created vegan versions of Portuguese dishes from different regions of Portugal. And they were all delicious - really delicious! I appreciated the explanation that she gave about each dish and the region it came from. We had this dinner our first night and it was a wonderful orientation to Portuguese cuisine. It also set the bar really high for the rest of our trip! Can’t wait to go back!

Overrated vegan cafe - Edit
We came here with high expectations, however we were let down. We came on a Sunday and the place was so busy which is lovely to see but it was clearly not equipped for this level. After bringing out the cold water we had to wait 20 mins for glasses so it was no longer cold. I ordered the aubergine parmigiana and my partner got a croissant with ice cream. His was okay but mine was lovely. Any of the dishes that weren’t pastries were extremely expensive so be prepared if you are wanting one of there. We then got a pastel de nata each and they were okay but we’ve had a lot better, there’s were completely overrated.
Read moreOverall, I would recommend the aubergine parmigiana but everything else was just kind of meh. There is better vegan food in Porto, the reviews are misleading.

not impressed - Edit
First of all, they don't have prices listed next to the bakery items. I ordered some croissants previously to try and I thought it's only a bit expensive, but then I ordered some pig sandwich which was 10 Euro! 10 Euro for a dry small savoury snack, not a sandwich definitely. It was also not tasty at all. The vegan natas were not to my liking either. The croissants are too sweet and over the top. The place is small and too expensive.

Not everything available, but very good food - Edit
Coffee was delicious, had lots of pastries as e.g. croissants with pistachio cream filling & pistachios on top, or coconut croissant which I had the second time we went.
Read moreWanted to try the Benedict but was not available on both visits (days apart) and other menu items also weren't available which was a bit disappointing, as that was the reason for coming back. If you dislike onions, don't order the avocado toast. The egg on top was not worth it, tasted like dough and not egg, the yolk is a tomato that looks like yolk, but tastes of tomato. It's not listed as an ingredient, but there is so much onion in it, I couldn't eat it. Also a bit pricey.
The place is very cozy though and I'd definitely recommend giving it a try as at least half of the things listed "negative" here are because of my personal taste.

We’re sorry the Benedict wasn’t available on either visit — on some busy days or when production is limited, we’re not always able to offer the full menu, but we’re working to improve that consistency.
Regarding the avocado toast: thank you for pointing out the onions and your thoughts on our plant-based “egg”. We’ll review the menu description to make sure it’s clearer for future guests — it’s important to us that everyone knows what to expect.
We also really appreciate you taking the time to distinguish between personal taste and areas for improvement — that kind of thoughtful feedback means a lot. We hope to welcome you back again soon, and fingers crossed we’ll have the Benedict ready for you next time!
