Huge sandwich - Edit
Hot sausage po boy was huge, super tasty, really cool unique vegan options you don’t see many other places. Gumbo was a little plain, I like mine with more of a kick. Not plain enough to knock a star off, this is still definitely a place I’d come back to, the sandwich ruled

Essential part of a vegan New Orleans experience - Edit
This was pretty much my first stop in New Orleans and it was a perfect one! I got a fried mushroom po' boy and split the fried okra with friends - both craveable cajun food! The location is convenient for a lot of fun in the area😄I need to go back and try more of the menu!

Great comfort food in the Quarter - Edit
I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap and sweet potato fries. The sauce was spicy and had the perfect kick of heat but not too much. The cheese was melted and gooey and delicious. The protein was crispy and delicious. Very filling and good. Will definitely go back and try more things!

Good food and great people - Edit
I was very excited to try out 2 Phat Vegans. The menu looks great and the reviews seem to bear. that out. A little disappointed to find that when I arrived the two most popular items - Hot Sausage Po Boy and Mic Drop Burger were out of stock. I asked the cashier for any other recommendations and she said the jerk chicken was great so I ordered that and the pepperoni pizza as well as a dessert.
Read moreThe pizza came out first and was quite good. The cheese is a little gummy, but flavorful and the pepperoni is the best I’ve had. I wish the crust was a little crispier but it’s very good.
The jerk chicken is very interesting. It’s quite flavorful and the jerk seasoning is spicy but not overwhelming. It’s heated a little inconsistently though. The chicken was room temp while other parts were very hot. The cheese was melted in parts and not melted in other. The wrap itself is a nice texture. All in all the wrap is good but not great. The heat is nice and flavorful though so it makes me wish I could have tried the po boy.
The dessert is good, lemon poppyseed muffins. It’s very good but just as good as the Abe’s muffins of the same flavor.
Given the small number of all vegan restaurants in the area, you should definitely check this place out and support them. It’s good food, good atmosphere, friendly staff. 4/5

A Must Stop - Edit
2 Phat Vegans in NOLA is a cool spot for plant-based eats. Their mushroom po'boy is a knockout, with perfectly seasoned 'shrooms that'll make your taste buds dance. The hot sausage po'boy brings the heat, nailing those classic New Orleans flavors. With big portions and chill island vibes, this place hits the spot for everyone. Fresh food, friendly folks, and tasty twists on local faves make 2 Phat Vegans a must-try for any food lover in the Big Easy.

Delicious black bean burger! - Edit
I ordered the black beans burger and it was phenomenal! I love the buns they use and everything was cooked perfectly. I will say that their magic is in the food but maybe not the ambiance! The closed sign was up in the middle of the day and I asked if they were open and they said yes! The menu on the QR code seemed to be inaccurate so I recommend using the menu on the wall!

Mixed experience - Great, good, meh - Edit
A small shop with friendly and helpful staff. Our experience was mixed. We had the Jerk Chicken Wrap, Hot Sausage Po Boy, fried mushrooms, and Oras Mocha Milkshake. The Jerk Chicken Wrap was excellent. The Hot Sausage Po Boy had good flavors but was underwhelming due to not having enough sausage. The shakes were tasty but pretty thin for a milkshake. The fried mushrooms were cut so small that the flavor was almost all breading.

Fat Tuesday! - Edit
Stopped in at 3pm (when they opened) on Fat Tuesday 2025 and while we had to wait a while it was soooo worth it! The jerk chikun wrap was super flavorful and delicious, and the hot sausage w/cheeze was outstanding.

Just go! - Edit
The best people, food & vibes! The spinach artichoke dip was fresh and flavorful, gumbo amazing, and the spicy sausage po boy all excellent. Fried okra too. Just the most amazing New Orleans cuisine done vegan and spiced right. We ate in and enjoyed the whole experience. Can’t recommend enough.

Long wait time, great burger - Edit
While ordering, we were told that the fryer wasn’t working, and that the gumbo would take an hour to make. We ordered two burgers, a pizza, and the nachos. The food took 40 minutes, and we were low on time so we had to take the pizza and nachos to go. The burgers were phenomenal, easily one of the best burgers I have ever had. But when I opened the pizza and nachos, I was shocked. The nachos were just cheese and chips, and the pizza was bland. The only reason this is not a one star review is because the atmosphere and servers were nice, and the burgers were good.

Underwhelming - Edit
Tried this place out because it seemed well-reviewed. Visited on a Sunday night, which might have impacted our experience. I'll preface everything by saying we'd go again to give it a shot, but we definitely didn't get the best of what this restaurant has to offer on the first go.
Read moreThe food was okay (got a vegan jerk chicken and fried okra). The fried okra was really good and the jerk chicken was flavorful. Definitely had enough of a kick to give it flavor without being overwhelmingly or pointlessly spicy.
We were disappointed overall to find they were out of a number of their most popular items (like the sausage sandwich). Staff also seemed confused about why we were surprised they were out of items. Also, I paid cash and they just didn't have change? I don't really care because I usually just toss the change in the tip jar but in this case they just straight up didn't have the change and that was the end of the conversation.
Really underwhelming compared to all the great reviews, but, I'll try it again next time I'm in town and hopefully find out it was a one-off disappointing experience.

LOVE!!! - Edit
The hot sausage was so good holy moly! So was the burger. And I don't even like mushrooms, but my dad ordered the fried mushrooms and I was OBSESSED! The owner was so so so sweet and gave me a free bowl of gumbo because he enjoyed our conversation🥹🥹 The vibe is awesome inside, I love the old school hip hop and all the stickers are so fun. We sat outside which was nice for a more relaxed feel. I wish I lived in NOLA so that I could go here all the time!

Wow! - Edit
Had the Vegan Hot Sausage PoBoy and fries, chocolate chip cookies. The PoBoy was one of the best sandwich I’ve had. Portions are huge. On a different note: we ordered food to eat there and everything was in a plastic bag, and catchup was in little plastic containers. The single use plastic drives me nuts. Great to support all vegan restaurants.

My First Jerk Sandwich - Edit
Tried my first Jerk Sandwich - lots of flavor and plenty of greens. Mushroom Po Boy was also delish. They were attentive to my bell pepper allergy and kept a clean, brightly colored & eclectically decorated restaurant. This was worth driving from the other end of the Mississippi. Nice to meet the owner & developer of the recipes.

Fantastic sandwich - Edit
I had the spicy sausage po boy here the other night and I’m still thinking about it. Definitely a top five vegan sandwich I’ve ever had. Bread was fantastic and the sandwich was spiced perfectly. It’s a bit pricey but very much worth it. Definitely going back the next time I’m in Nola.
