Well….I need to write this new review of Moonlight after the HORRID event three days ago. We’ve eaten here dozens of times over the years and despite the unkempt atmosphere in the parking lot and interior, the food has always been pretty good and the menu is very large. We clearly told the waiter that we’re ordering ALL VEGAN dishes and then ordered four items from the vegan (green-edged) menu. The “chicken” and gailan arrived and I thought it looked a bit funny, but began eating it anyway. When the waiter passed by, I verified saying “this is vegan right?”. Then a waitress came by and freaked out saying that it was REAL CHICKEN!!! I had already eaten some and was HORRIFIED to realize that after 55 1/2 years of being a strict vegetarian, I’d just ingested a dead animal. The psychological implications were even worse than the physical ones. I felt so sick. Our initial waiter, who took our order, was nowhere to be found, leaving the waitress to fix the mess. She kept saying it was the kitchen’s error. Whatever. They remade the dish ensuring it was vegan and didn’t charge us for us. Big deal. They should have comped the entire meal. Bottom line: We will NEVER EVER go to Moonlight again. The service sucks, the place is a dump and the food is only ok. IF YOU ARE A NON-MEAT EATER, BEWARE.
