Wow. This is surprising to see. I’ve been eating at this restaurant for 15 years and haven’t had an experience like this there. Seems they must have had an off-day. If you ever go again, I highly recommend the fajitas veganas. All the staff have always been super friendly and have never given me trouble for being vegan, and that’s as far back as 2010 when people weren’t as familiar with the term. El Nuevo Mexicano have always been great to me and every meal has been superb. It’s the only place I *have* to visit when I’m in Chicago. I hope you consider giving them another try. :)
